After spending a very short time with another equine dentist to see if it interested him, he collected books and gathered knowledge from libraries, veterinary colleges and made contact with university lecturers in a number of countries. He also searched for appropriate instruments and 2 years later started treating horses. His general attitude is to provide the best treatment at all times, irrespective of workload or the value of individual horses. Peter established the Australian Equine Dental Practice in 1980 and worked for famous racing families like the Freedmans (racing) and the Knights (trotting) and has treated the Australian Equestrian Team prior to the Seoul Olympics. He has lectured in colleges and for numerous clubs. In 20 years of practice he has gained a reputation for being precise and conscientious in his work and the people he trained are testimony to that. Since 1985 Peter has trained 5 equine dentists and keeps himself busy with dentistry, industrial design and photography. <p>REX THOMSON <br>Rex was recently trained and is a qualified by the Australian Equine Dental Practice as an equine dentist Grade 3. Rex Thomson has been involved with horses for 20 years. For many years he has been a farrier to horses on the New South Wales South Coast and Snowy Mountains. He is an affiliate of the Am. Blacksmiths Assn. Rex, as owner of Australian Stockhorses himself realised there is more to horse care than just ensuring they have good feet. So by becoming a trained equine dentist, he feels he can now make an even bigger contribution to your horse's wellbeing.
